Siham Ahmed

Siham Ahmed, born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, immigrated to the U.S. at an early age, eventually settling in Tucker, Georgia. In August 2023, she graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Health Promotion, a minor in Korean Language and Literature, and a Global Education and Leadership certificate. Throughout her undergraduate journey, Siham worked as a Fontaine Peer Educator at the Health Center and a Junior Advisor at the Office of Global Engagement. She was also involved in First Gen Dawgs, the Public Health Association, the Korean Culture and Language Society, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. She gained practical experience in South Korea by studying at Yonsei University and interning at SAIB, an intimate cosmetics company, during the summers of 2021 and 2023, respectively. Siham also completed a summer Epidemiology Research Internship at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, focusing on investigating the relationship between Dairy and Breast Cancer Prevalence. This experience provided her with mentorship in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, affirming her passion for nutrition-based epidemiological research and enhancing her analytical skills. In January 2024, Siham joined Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, in the Food as Medicine (FAM) Department as a FAM Technician. She actively contributes to nutrition-based interventions and education by enrolling underserved patients in the plant-based program and assisting in the Teaching kitchen. Siham aims to pursue a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology, specializing in the relationship between diet and disease. She enjoys cooking/baking, traveling, and concert-going in her free time! Excited about the prospect of a career in the foreign service, Siham is eager to leverage her background in public health to make a meaningful global impact!
