Kevin Moore

Kevin Moore, born in Silver Spring, MD, and raised in Orlando, FL, recently graduated with honors from the University of South Florida, earning a B.A. in World Languages and Cultures with a concentration in Applied Linguistics. His undergraduate studies included coursework focused on Second Language Acquisition + English as a Second/Foreign Language, Chinese Language (Mandarin) and Culture, Sociolinguistics, Cross-/Intercultural Communication, and Applied Linguistics. Since graduating, Kevin has been working in the non-profit industry, volunteering in an international educational exchange program known as AFS-USA, which works in compliance with the Department of States Exchange Visitor Program to promote public diplomacy. He also works for a non-profit Chat and Text Center for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline that happens to be the first for Deaf, by Deaf organization to receive accreditation through the American Associate of Suicidology, providing crisis services to Deaf and hearing individuals. Kevin is ecstatic to begin a graduate program that focuses on equipping him with the tools he needs to develop his capabilities of working in the field of global diplomacy and international development, managing and resolving conflict in the international context while utilizing cross-/intercultural communication skills to negotiate peace-building solutions and advocate for the overlooked international disabled community. His regional interests lie in the Indo-Pacific, Latin American, Africa, and Asia regions, concentrating on US-China relations and the effects of the Belt Road Initiative. During his free time, Kevin enjoys reading fictional young adult novels, engaging in mentally stimulating games, and learning new languages in hopes of becoming a polyglot. Kevin is also incredibly engaged with the Deaf/ASL community, having been raised by two Deaf parents and is a Deaf ASL user himself!
