Kaylin Butler

Kaylin Butler is a proud native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  She will graduate from Bennett College, the first historically black women’s college in Greensboro, North Carolina, with her BS in Biology this upcoming May of 2023.  Her international experience was facilitated by Bennett College s Center for Global Studies.  Through this department, she obtained her passport and later spent a summer studying abroad in Ghana.  During her time in Ghana, she was able to discover the nation’s health disparities and uncover her commitment to adaptability, relatability, and leadership.  Succeeding her studies overseas, Kaylin was invited to intern with the Center for Global Studies.  She worked closely with global studies coordinators to encourage studying and interning abroad among students.  Kaylin co-hosted seminars and scholarship workshops where she shared her study abroad experiences and gave valuable and fulfilling advice to students interested in pursuing education overseas.  As a Global Studies Advocate, she had the opportunity of welcoming and hosting international guests visiting the campus from all over the world.  Kaylin also interned as a Student Orientation and Recruitment Staff (SOARS) member at Bennett College; she traveled throughout the United States recruiting future Bennett College students, sharing her story, and engaging with alumnae.  In 2019, she interned as a medical assistant, where she established the foundation of her health science knowledge, which was supplemented by her experience working as a pharmacy technician in college.  Kaylin originally planned to become a physician, but her career interests shifted as she discovered her passion for travel and global health disparities. Her hobbies include spending time at the library, roller skating, singing, occasional travel, and challenging her language skills.  For her graduate studies, she plans to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a Global Health concentration or a Master of International Affairs (MIA) program, which will allow her to build her curriculum geared toward her career interests as a USAID Population/Health/Nutrition (PHN) Officer.
